The play is set in Atlanta,
Georgia, in December 1939. Gone With the Wind is having its world
premiere in the city and Hitler is invading Poland, but Atlanta’s elite
Jewish community seems much more concerned about who is attending
Ballyhoo, the social event of the season -- a coming-out event for young
Jewish women. It seems a last chance for dreamy, unpopular Lala Freitag to
find a suitable husband. The arrival of a young man from New
York, complicates matters and the family is torn with dissension but
eventually reunited, with plenty of comedy, romance, and revelations along
the way.
